Meet Kasey!

I wanted everyone to meet Kasey! :) She has shot a couple of events with me over the past few months but I wanted to make the 'official' introduction. She will be shooting a lot with me this year and I know it's going to be a blast! She's also going to be blogging here as well, so check it out... I know the first post is going to be hysterical, she told me about what's she's been doing and I swear I was crying from laughing so much.

A little background on how we met? Kasey was a bridesmaid in a couple of weddings that we shot over the past couple years (her best friends Christine & Tony and Alise & Jim) and we shot her wedding to the absolutely wonderful Jeremy last September, too! And you know what was super cool?? They booked us before they set the date for their wedding!! :) Sweet! (I love it when that happens!)

It's been just crazy this month! Weddings, families and babies, oh my!! I'm loving every minute of it! Here's a preview of Brooke with more to come!

So I'm finally on Facebook and about time, right? Something tells me this can be soooo addictive! LOL

We Have the Coolest Couples

I know we say that a lot but we REALLY do! Val and I met up with one of our couples, Kasey and Jeremy, on Saturday to discuss wedding plans, etc. and we ended up chatting for 2  hours about, well, you name it! We pretty much covered everything and had a great time doing it!

As we were talking, we found out that Jeremy races bicycles. Now me saying that is sort of like saying Dale Earnhardt Jr. drives cars. Jeremy, it seems, is crazy. Here he is:

And just to give you a little better idea of what this is like, I did some poking around on You Tube and found a video that should give you a feel for it:

Now that may not be the exact class that Jeremy races in but you get the point, right?! I'm right aren't I? The dude is insane, yes? I mean 80 bazillion miles an hour down a hill on a bike is crazy. But it's not even like one of those nice hills, it's one of those "go ahead and see how fast you can go 'cause I ate the last three riders just like you for lunch" kinda hills. Ok I think I made my point.

So (and this is where it starts getting interesting, so stay with me here...) we chat some more and find out that, well, Kasey does it too. I SAID KASEY DOES IT TOO! Yeah, 8 bazillion miles an hour down a hill on a bicycle for fun! Check it out:

How cool is that? Now, do we get the coolest couples or what? Told ya! Their wedding is September 13th and Val and I will be shooting this one together and I can't wait!

And I know, I know what you're thinking and we thought it, too. Girl races bikes, girl is getting married, girl is outgoing and a lot of fun and does crazy things....TRASH THE DRESS!!! YEAH!!!

Well she hasn't taken us up on our offer yet but we'll keep working on it ;) Maybe if you guys can email her or talk it up in the comments we'll persuade her to go for it! ;)

Guys it was great to finally meet you, Val and I had a blast talking with you and I'm sorry we kept you so long! And Kasey no bruises before the wedding, it's a TON of extra work in Photoshop to take those out of all your pictures ya know ;)

Crystal and Scott at Avery Point

Sunday, I met up with Crystal and Scott at Avery Point in Groton (yes it was a busy weekend!) for some engagement pictures. Val and I will be shooting their wedding next year. Normally, it's a great opportunity to meet our couples and get to know a little about them before the wedding but in this case, Crystal and I go way back (her Dad and I go wayyyyy back) so this was a little different! It was nice to see everyone again 'cause it's been a while!

It was a bright, sunny day which, believe it or not, is not a photographer's first choice for weather conditions. Why? Squinting! And harsh, bright light can be a challenge for us. But no worries, we were able to get some great shots! Have a look:

Laura and Gary - by Bruce

This past weekend, I shot Laura and Gary's wedding at the Grassy Hill Country Club in Orange, Connecticut. Laura's sister Vera and I used to work together and that's how I ended up with this wedding. We get SO MUCH of our work from referrals and friends and I can't even begin to tell you how much we appreciate that!

The country club was gorgeous! What a great venue for a wedding. It rained early in the day but cleared out in plenty of time for the late afternoon ceremony.





Laura and Gary are a very relaxed and easy going couple. Weddings can be so tense if you let them but they made it clear right off the bat there'd be none of that stressful stuff at their wedding!

Speaking of the bride, here's Laura and I'm gonna steal a catch phrase from a favorite photographer of ours and call this a "relaxed portrait"...

The ceremony finished in time to catch the tail end of some very tasty light as the sun went down and we were able to get some great shots...

Two turn tables and a microphone...yesirree that's vinyl he's spinning! It's actually more complicated than that and the music doesn't come from the discs directly. They are used for timing, but still. It LOOKS cool!

My wife's friend Kate asked me if I would take some shots of her and her family because she loves our work (hey now!) and it's been a while since they had any pics done. How can I say no to that? I'm always flattered when people tell us they love our work and then trust us to take family photos of them. It really is an honor and I hope you like the results!

Hmmm, look up "All-American Girl" in the dictionary and you may just find a picture of Kate! (And I'm not just saying that because she stopped by and bribed me with a bottle of wine tonite! Honest!)

We took these shots at the local high school. It's just a great spot for nice light in the early evening and I though it fit in with the theme of an athletic family. Barb and Kate play softball with my wife; Barb plays shortstop and Kate plays third base...

Mrs. Intensity...yes she plays this hard...and yes she got the out.


And then there's Kate at the "hot corner". It's a lot of fun to watch them play and so cool to see Mom and Daughter side by side like that.

Kid stuff!

Every once in a while we get to do some non-wedding related photography stuff (shh, don't tell anybody!) A friend of mine asked if I would take some shots of her kids. She really didn't want to have the "cookie cutter" portrait stuff done, she didn't feel like it represented what her kids are like. She wanted casual clothes and a fun atmosphere; basically let them be kids and let me shoot some pictures. Sounds like fun to me!!

So I give you Tyler and Morgan! (well we call her "Mo"!)
