Sweet Baby!

It's been just crazy this month! Weddings, families and babies, oh my!! I'm loving every minute of it! Here's a preview of Brooke with more to come!

Cara and Kevin Engagement Shoot

Last week we (me and Kasey!) took off to Hammonasset State Park for a really awesome e-session with Cara and Kevin, these two were so much fun we could have stayed all day except it had to be twenty below zero on the beach! They had me freezing when they actually took their coats off for some of the shots!! Must be why I'm feeling cold just editing them today. :) Anyhow, they were so much fun, we can't wait for the wedding, it should be much warmer, right??

Thanks for a fun time and, honestly, we really can't wait for the wedding!! :)

Ten Eyck Tuesdays Rock!

Tuesday was awesome! I have to tell you that I was nervous about it though and I'm not sure why, it really was the BEST day! I had so much fun, learned so much and met some great new people too! (They even offered to come help paint and renovate a room in my house for a studio, how awesome cool fabulous is that???)

Carla is really one of the most wonderful and talented people I've ever had the joy of meeting. A kindred spirit, from the unbelievable Victorian house (with a purple couch!) to our shared love of our D3's and of the name George! I also got to meet the fabulous smokin' hot Mr. Eric Foley and his super special, utterly gorgeous wife Erin, they were up for absolutely anything we asked them to do, and they did it with style!! Just check out these shots of them and you have to agree!

I still can NOT believe that they were taken in a parking garage and a gravel parking lot in West Hartford. :)

Accidental Photography

No, we are not in the "glamour" kids photography business! I had the camera out on Easter (no? really??) and Katelyn was running around away from me because she didn't want her picture taken, can you believe that?? So she hides behind the cushion of the sofa, then when she peeked out I took the shot... this is the photograph I got. Not kidding... pure accidental photography. LOL (She will be locked in her room till she is 30!)

Give It Away, Give It Away, Give It Away Now

So I was in a hurry for lunch today and I ran to Dunkin' Donuts for a coffee and a bagel. Ok not the most nutritious choice for lunch, but it was a wheat bagel ;) Just ham and egg, no cheese so not too awful bad. Anyway, I got to the window and the manager handed me my coffee and my bag with the food in it.

He said, "I threw a flatbread sandwich in there for you to try, no charge."

Me: "Really? Thanks very much! Why?"

"A lot of people come for lunch and they order a bagel sandwich not realizing we have these new flatbread sandwiches. Just thought you might like to try one!"

Ok, ok I know it was a simple marketing ploy, but hey you know what? I thought it was a cool idea and it sorta made my day! And here I am telling all of you about it ;) so I guess it worked.

But it also inspired me! So...I'm returning the favor. I want to give the first person that emails me (bruce AT thesweetestdays DOT com) a FREE portrait session. Yep, remember that Valentine's Day post about the new portrait sessions we're doing? One of those. For you. Or you and your family. Or you and your dog Guido. Free. Zip, zero, nada. No strings attached.

Just send me an email and tell me you want it. First person I hear from wins! We'll figure the rest out from there. I'll come to your house. Maybe this weekend. Or we can wait for summer and go to the beach. That way you'll have time to get your hair done. You can get Guido's hair done, too. Whatever you want. And hey maybe you can bring a flatbread sandwich for me, those are good!

Seamen's Inne Tasting

Well we had a great time today in Mystic! It was awesome to see many of our couples and meet some new ones while we were there too! What a blast!

The Seamen's Inne does such a great job and takes great care to make sure everything goes perfectly (and it always does!). And just a quick shout-out to a couple of the other vendors that were there:

Charlene Lindquist, aka The Cake Lady was there with some many different cakes samples, each one better than the rest. Our favorite? Creamsicle! YUM! Her work is incredible as you can tell by some of the pics. And just so you know, Charlene is extremely busy and yet has NO website, so that should tell you something right there! If you want to get in touch, give her a call at 860/437-8666 and she'll take good care of you but I suggest you hurry because she books quickly!

Also wanted to mention McQuades Marketplace in Mystic who supplied all of the flowers and centerpieces you saw today. Gorgeous!

And special thanks to all the couples that braved the cold today and let us take their pictures! ;) I hope you got a sense for how we do our portrait and formal sessions, quick and painless right? See the results below ;)

A day off !!

I took the day off yesterday!! That's a first in a very long time! We headed down to Misquamicut Beach in RI and it was gorgeous, perfect, awesome!! Are there more words I can use?? The girls just love the ocean and you can't help but relax and laugh watching them... okay, it started out with just dipping toes in the water and then it ended up with them getting totally soaked and loving every minute of it! :-)

I'm still waiting for one of my brides to jump in and do just this! How fun would that be, wedding dress and all?? Think of the crazy shots we could get, it's something you'd never forget! Come on... pretty please?

And of course...sunset on the beach... love it!!

Crystal and Scott at Avery Point

Sunday, I met up with Crystal and Scott at Avery Point in Groton (yes it was a busy weekend!) for some engagement pictures. Val and I will be shooting their wedding next year. Normally, it's a great opportunity to meet our couples and get to know a little about them before the wedding but in this case, Crystal and I go way back (her Dad and I go wayyyyy back) so this was a little different! It was nice to see everyone again 'cause it's been a while!

It was a bright, sunny day which, believe it or not, is not a photographer's first choice for weather conditions. Why? Squinting! And harsh, bright light can be a challenge for us. But no worries, we were able to get some great shots! Have a look:
